Type of the Notice: Activation of Web Filtering

Level of Impact: Med

Urgency Level: Low

User Action Required: No initial action is required by users.

Purpose: To notify MORPC team members that IT will be turning on web filtering to help protect MORPC against potentially known or suspected malicious websites.

Details:  Today, Wednesday, 3/20/24, IT will activate web filtering through FortiClient.

  • IT has tailored the web filtering settings to accommodate as many known MORPC-accessed websites as possible, but there may still be a number of websites that get auto-flagged by FortiClient as potentially malicious.

  • Please know that IT is primarily concerned about security and not attempting to restrict productivity or access in any way.

  • If you are attempting to access any website, but received a website blocked message, please submit a ticket in FreshDesk or send an email to support@morpc.org. We will evaluate each website individually to determine any possible security vulnerabilities OR if the website was flagged erroneously so that we may add it to our whitelist.

  • Ultimately, we want every MORPC employee to feel comfortable coming to IT to alert us about any blocked website that you would like evaluated from a security standpoint. This is a new security feature that will greatly improve MORPC's cyber-security position, but there will be an adjustment period after it is turned on to make sure everyone has continued access to sites they commonly use.

Should you have absolutely any questions on this Service Notice, please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or any member of the IT Team.

Thank you ALL for keeping MORPC safe from cyber-threats and remaining vigilant!
