Good morning, all!
At this time, we are pausing the immediate block of USB ports for thumb drives and external storage. Further updates will be provided once we are ready to move forward.
ITS will be connecting with users over the next few days to better understand how USB flash drives and external hard drives are being utilized by different teams to allow time for developing alternate methods utilizing cloud-based solutions and/or exclusions from the policy when necessary.
Thank you to all users who have already reached out or submitted a ticket to support@morpc.org about the USB storage device exclusion! We realize many users would be negatively impacted if a port block was initiated today, so we want to take the time to gather additional information from each team.
If you or your team do regularly use USB flash drives to conduct work and you have not already done so, please submit a ticket to support@morpc.org so we can better understand how they are being utilized and if alternate recommendations can be made.
Please remain vigilant and never plug in a flash drive that does not belong to you and only obtain flash drives from known, reputable sources.
Thank you all for your understanding and assistance in this process!
