Type of the Notice: MORPC is experiencing an increase in phishing and other cyber-attack attempts.
Level of Impact: High
Urgency Level: High
User Action Required: Remain vigilant and continue marking all suspected phishing emails by clicking the "phishing" icon as shown in the snip below:
Purpose: To provide information about an increase in phishing and cyber-attack attempts.
Details: MORPC is experiencing an increase in the number and the sophistication of phishing and other cyber-attack attempts on the organization.
Example: Several MORPC staff received an extremely convincing email from Adobe Sign (pictured below). Some immediate callouts would be the "From" email address as well as the odd formatting and appearance of a clipped image at the bottom of the email.
Please be diligent in reviewing emails in full before clicking any sent links. Additionally, be extremely cautious of emails from senders you may know, but are not expecting to receive an email, document, or link from. When in doubt, reach out via a separate communication method to the sender to verify they did indeed send you an email.
Summary Action Plan:
· All employees should be aware that MORPC is experiencing an increase in phishing and other cyber-attack attempts.
· All employees should verify requests or action items received unexpectedly via email before acting on the request.
· All employees should report any odd laptop behavior to IT immediately.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any member of the IT team should there be any further assistance needed regarding this Service Notice.
