Teams Content Policy Update

Dear MORPC Employees,

This message is to inform you of recent policy updates implemented for Teams. We've identified a need to revert to the previous settings to ensure optimal functionality.

What this means for you:

  • A change was made to try to help with the AI bot-recording issue some of you experienced when a guest uses a bot to transcribe a meeting. (Teams treats that as a recording, and only allows one recording.) That change did not have the desired impact and the previous Teams content policies have been restored. As a result, as has usually been the case:
    • All users attending meetings can initiate a recording and be able to share their screen.
    • All default settings within Teams are now functioning as originally designed. There are currently no technical issues impacting these settings.
  • Note: if you intend to record a meeting please do so when the meeting starts or have the meeting set to auto record since there cannot be two concurrent recording sessions.
  • As a result of ever-changing technologies like the AI bots, we will continue to evaluate settings and ultimately agency policy decisions. In the meantime, IT can continue to collect information from you if you notice issues, notice any situational nuances, or have policy questions that need to be addressed. For the policy decisions, we will involve others to ensure we optimize our agencies approach to our Teams settings and policies.

If you have any concerns or questions:

  • Please don't hesitate to reach out to the IT department IT@morpc.org for further assistance. We're happy to address any questions you may have regarding this update.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Sincerely,

The IT Department MORPC
